So in this post i figured i would talk about all the gear i put on when i go outside...whether it be for work or for play!
So first i usually put on a layer of long underwear...this helps to keep you super toasty warm! its also important not to wear any cotton base layers as the cotton just draws heat out of your body instead of keeping it in!
Next i put on my carhart overalls. These are kind of like snow pants, but they are super insulated and are really good at keeping the wind out as well.
Then i put on my blue FDX boots. its amazing how warm my feet stay
in these boots...but i also wear liners, and at least one pair of heavy duty wool socks. I also find that if i slip in some "foot wamers" (amazing little air activated inventions that put out heat) my feet and toes stay toasty warm for hours!
Next comes some more layers on top! usually this involves a wool sweater, a hooded sweatshirt and a fleece jacket (sometimes 2 fleeces).
And finally comes the hat, mittens, neck gator, and a head lamp. I usually wear at least one pair of gloves under my mittens because when i work in the dome i often need to take my mittens of to grab things or write things down. and i always make sure to slip hand warmers into my mittens to keep my little fingers warm because when you take mittens on and off your hands can get quite cold! And its always a good idea to wear a head lamp these days because its rather dark out and you can get easily turned around!
If its really cold out (i am talking at least -90F) and super windy i will wear my issued parka, or "big red" but i find this coat to be super bulky and hard to work in. So i find that as long as I layer up and keep moving when i am outside i can get away without big red.
So below are two more pictures of me dressed in all my gear. One when i am in big red, the other how i usually dress when i work outside or in the dome.

I started this 2 days ago but Flora had to go knitting. Audrey turned 85 on this past Wednesday. Do you have a way of showing how you work, move stuff from the dome cooking & whatever. Have sent & printed the last blog every one is impressed. Stay warm, healthy and know you are missed and loved. Make us proud summer street Saco Maine, U.S.A.
