So its hard for me to believe that it is already nearing the end of march! the 1st month since we closed the station has gone by so quickly! my guess is mostly because we have all had a lot to do, and I know i have been learning all the ins and outs of what its like to work in a materials position! So i am sorry for my lack of blog posting, but currently the satellite is only up during the hours I am usually sleeping!
I have been spending a lot of time stocking up the dome with food for the winter. This mostly involved moving lots of triwalls full of food from the berms (outside storage areas) into the dome. Once inside the dome i have the lovely task of unpacking all the food and putting it onto the shelves, or in aisles with other like items. Here is a picture of me I took while i was out in the dome working one day! I look pretty cold but i don't think i was!
Tonight we had our "sunset dinner". This was basically just to celebrate the beginning of the winter season, and also the sunset which has begun! With the help of some great volunteers I decorated the galley and rearranged tables and everything so that we could have a nice cocktail hour with appetizers before dinner, and then we all sat down to an amazing dinner prepared by our 3 great cooks! We also made a nice memorial table with 3 place settings to represent the 3 men that have passed away while they were working down here at the south pole. The kitchen did an amazing job with the food, adn even went so far as to pre-plate the salad and desserts for everyone! All in all it was a great evening spent in good company, and a good way to start the evening.
That is all for now folks. In my next post i will try and put in some pictures of places around the station so everyone can see what this place looks like! this polie is off to bed for now!

You let sleep get in the way of keeping up with the more important work of blogging shame on you. It's going up to the 40's today and the pile of snow on the lawn is down below the 3 foot level. i can even see more grass. Stay warm, out of trouble and make us proud. Summer street.
